When I was little, my aunts always gave me Barbies even though they knew I disliked dolls. Now they give me make-up and chick lit hoping that I’ll “grow up” and stop being a “tomboy.” I am a 24-year-old woman. It makes me feel frustrated, as if the only important thing about me is my gender, not my personality.
